PAC Taxonomy Bridge for WooCommerce

Description

PAC Taxonomy Bridge for WooCommerce is a real-time WooCommerce FileMaker integration that connects WooCommerce product taxonomy changes to Claris FileMaker Server through the FileMaker Data API.

Instead of polling WooCommerce with cron jobs or scheduled checks, the plugin notifies FileMaker immediately when supported taxonomy data is created, updated or deleted.

The Free edition supports:

  • WooCommerce product categories
  • Global product attributes
  • Attribute values

A single FileMaker script receives the WooCommerce object ID together with its taxonomy scope.

Example:

{"id":55,"ambito":"categoria"}

Supported scope values are:

  • categoria
  • attributo
  • valore_attributo

This gives you a direct WooCommerce to FileMaker bridge without polling, middleware or external synchronization services.

Real-time WooCommerce to FileMaker integration

PAC Taxonomy Bridge reacts when taxonomy information changes in WooCommerce and immediately calls FileMaker through the FileMaker Data API.

Typical workflow:

  1. A supported WooCommerce taxonomy object is created, updated or deleted.
  2. PAC Taxonomy Bridge opens a FileMaker Data API session.
  3. The configured FileMaker script is executed.
  4. The WooCommerce object ID and taxonomy scope are passed to FileMaker.
  5. FileMaker performs your own synchronization or business logic.
  6. The Data API session is closed.

The FileMaker-side logic remains entirely under your control.

Your FileMaker script can create records, update existing data, maintain relationships, launch additional scripts or synchronize WooCommerce taxonomy data with your own FileMaker solution.

Free edition

The Free edition uses a single FileMaker destination for all supported taxonomy scopes.

You configure:

  • FileMaker Server
  • FileMaker database
  • Layout
  • Script
  • FileMaker account

The script receives a JSON parameter containing the WooCommerce object ID and taxonomy scope.

For example:

{"id":37,"ambito":"categoria"}

{"id":4,"ambito":"attributo"}

{"id":91,"ambito":"valore_attributo"}

This is suitable when categories, attributes and attribute values can all be handled by a single FileMaker entry-point script.

Professional edition

PAC Taxonomy Bridge Professional allows each WooCommerce taxonomy type to use a completely independent FileMaker destination.

For each of these scopes:

  • Product Category
  • Global Attribute
  • Attribute Value

you can configure a separate:

  • FileMaker database
  • Layout
  • Script

This allows categories, attributes and attribute values to be processed by different FileMaker tables, layouts, scripts or even different FileMaker files.

Professional also adds:

  • Background delivery using Action Scheduler
  • Automatic retries after failed deliveries
  • Custom HTTPS certificate verification
  • Custom CA certificate support
  • Advanced diagnostics
  • Independent FileMaker workflows for each taxonomy type

Why use PAC Taxonomy Bridge?

Many WooCommerce and FileMaker integrations rely on scheduled polling.

That means WordPress or FileMaker periodically asks:

“Has anything changed?”

PAC Taxonomy Bridge works in the opposite direction.

WooCommerce notifies FileMaker when the change happens.

Benefits include:

  • No cron-based polling for taxonomy changes
  • No repeated queries looking for modified data
  • No middleware required
  • Immediate FileMaker script execution
  • Lower synchronization latency
  • Business logic stays inside FileMaker

Supported WooCommerce taxonomy data

PAC Taxonomy Bridge handles:

  • Product categories
  • Global product attributes
  • Attribute values

Attribute values are WooCommerce terms belonging to global attribute taxonomies such as:

  • pa_color
  • pa_size
  • pa_material

or any other global product attribute defined in WooCommerce.

FileMaker Data API

Communication with FileMaker Server uses the standard FileMaker Data API over HTTPS.

The plugin authenticates using the configured FileMaker account and executes the selected FileMaker script using the configured database and layout.

No FileMaker plug-in or external middleware component is required.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.4 or later
  • WooCommerce
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • Claris FileMaker Server with the FileMaker Data API enabled
  • HTTPS connectivity between WordPress and FileMaker Server
  • A FileMaker account with access to the configured database, layout and script

FAQ

Does PAC Taxonomy Bridge require cron jobs?

No.

Supported WooCommerce taxonomy changes are sent to FileMaker in real time when the event occurs.

Does the plugin require middleware?

No.

PAC Taxonomy Bridge communicates directly with FileMaker Server through the FileMaker Data API.

What does FileMaker receive in the Free edition?

The configured FileMaker script receives a JSON value in script.param.

Example:

{"id":55,"ambito":"categoria"}

The id identifies the WooCommerce object and ambito identifies the taxonomy scope.

What is the difference between Free and Professional?

The Free edition uses one FileMaker database, layout and script for all supported taxonomy types.

The Professional edition allows separate FileMaker database, layout and script settings for Categories, Attributes and Attribute Values.

Professional also adds background delivery, retries, certificate options and advanced diagnostics.

Can the Professional edition use different FileMaker files?

Yes.

Each taxonomy scope can use a different FileMaker database, layout and script.

Does the plugin modify FileMaker records directly?

No.

The plugin calls the FileMaker script you configure.

Your FileMaker script decides what records to create, update or delete and what business logic to execute.

Does the plugin require a FileMaker plug-in?

No.

The integration uses the standard FileMaker Data API.

Are local WooCommerce product attributes supported?

PAC Taxonomy Bridge is designed around WooCommerce product taxonomy data, including product categories, global attributes and the values belonging to global attributes.
